Hello there!

How have you been so far? Before me going back to the States, I want to update my art blog again! I am very happy with my recent bird painting, and I wanted to show it soon to you! I believe in that blue birds bring happiness to us. So, my painted blue bird brings happiness to all people who follow my art blog!!

This is an order piece from one of my portrait painting teachers from the States, Jerri Cookie Barton. When I met her last time at Gay’s school, I showed her my humming bird  and the other bird that I painted to Dixie. She really loved them, especially, the Dixie bird. She ordered my hand-painted bird from me. What’s the honor for me it is!!!! I was very excited!! I was willing to get the order from her and enjoyed painting it, to try to paint my best bird!

Then, here it is! I am so happy with the result! I hope Cookie will like it as well! I can’t wait to see her smile at Gay’s school.

Hello there! How have you been so far?

I am sorry for the delay. I was busy with painting and doing my homework from my painting school. I am happy that I finally finished my bird painting! Yay!!

This is for my class in Alabama. I have heard the class has already filled, and I am so excited to see my people at Dixie’s painting studio! Thank you so much for everything, Dixie!!!

I painted some cherry blossoms, cherries and a bird. I picked up the bird from a western book, and the bird is not from Japan. However, I think it’s okay that we mix because we are not bird experts. We are painters, right? I think it’s so-called artistic license, heehe!

I hope my American painting friends can experience Japanese the spring while my they are painting. I will bring our spring to Alabama in a month! Our cherries are not like Americans. Ours are more orange-ish color and smaller.

Have a lovely day/night!

See you in two weeks!

A Blue Bird

Posted in Animal painting, birds, European Style, Uncategorized with tags , , , on July 30, 2017 by yumi

Hi there! It’s so hot and humid in Japan. I hate summer, but we have to deal with it. I painted a blue bird because the color blue makes us feel cool. Actually, I painted this plate for my friend. I hope the blue bird brings happiness to her! ( In Japan we have a saying like blue birds are symbol of happiness.)

While I was painting the blue bird, I could feel cooler a little bit. It was fun to paint the bird. He seems to be a baby bird, doesn’t he?  I hope the butterfly is his friend, and not his food, lol.

The hot and humid weather makes me tired and paint slower. I will update my art blog in two weeks!

Have a lovely week or weekend!

Now, I am working on a landscape, butterflies, lilies, and fruits. I don’t know which one will be finished first.  I will show you something when I finish next time!

Have a lovely weekend!

A Humming Bird

Posted in Animal painting, birds, European Style, flower painting with tags , , , , , on March 29, 2017 by yumi

Hello there! It’s getting warmer and we can hear footsteps of spring here. We will have cherry blossoms soon.

My family and I celebrated my husband’s parents’ 58th wedding anniversary a couple of days ago at a fancy Chinese restaurant in a hotel with them. I am glad they have been together such a long time together. Since I took some pics of the foods, I will update my other blog soon. If you are interested in Japanese Chinese cuisine (Well, in Japan some Chinese foods are called “cuisine”.), please check it out in a couple of days.

Meanwhile, in this blog, I want to show you my newest plate. I painted this plate for my in-laws. As you know, we don’t have humming birds in Japan, and they have never seen them in person. I saw them at my Alabama mom, Dixie’s several times. They are really tiny, and since then I wanted to paint them some time.

This is my first time to paint humming birds and I just loved it. I want to practice it more.

When you look at my plate, you imagine the humming bird’s buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sounds, it makes me really happy!

I will update my blog in two weeks and will show you a portrait for the first time in a couple of years!

Have a lovely week and see you soon!

City Art Show

Posted in American Syle, Animal painting, Awards, birds, competition with tags , , , , on September 24, 2016 by yumi

Long time no see. I apologize for my laziness. I was busy trying to get in a city art show where I live. The art show is not a porcelain show and I had to compete with around 500 artworks. Everyone can enter one piece, and if they can’t win a prize, their piece can’t be displayed. If you want many people to see your piece, you have to win a prize. That’s the show rule.

I tried to enter the show with this piece and made it. When I received the news, I was very happy for it.

A couple of days ago, I went to the museum where my piece has been shown with my hubby. Before going there,  he and I were talking how many pieces would be in the show. He told me he guessed that everybody could get in the show because it’s the city art show. Well, we met some people who couldn’t get in there. I talked with several of them, and they told me that they have been trying for several years, but it’s hard for them to get in. They came there to get their pieces back. The show had prepared two rooms to put the pieces which couldn’t get in. I saw many pieces were there.

I realized that to get in the show was a little bit more difficult that I had thought. The show is more serious that I had imagined. When I heard their stories, I felt sorry for them. At the same time I appreciated my luck.

While we were looking around, I heard an elderly woman who was with her husband pointing at my piece and said, “Oh, I love this one!”. It totally made my day.

It was fun to try out to get in a real art show. I want to do this every year from now on.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and supporting me! I will try to post something every weekend constantly, but I guess that I sometimes won’t be able to do this. Now, I am painting some mushrooms on mugs, and you will see them next weekend.

See you around next weekend!
