Hello there! How are you doing? I hope everyone is appreciating every moment and enjoying your lives.

In Japan we have lots of exhibitions in autumn because we think autumn relates to culture things. I want to go to art museums to see art shows.

A couple of weeks ago, we had a city art show where my piece had showcased, and my hubby and I went there to see it. This time I thought everybody leveled up their skills when I saw people’s art. I don’t know why I felt like that. Maybe I felt this way because one of my pieces didn’t make it into the exhibition.

To be honest with you, I painted this piece for my mom and tried to get a higher prize in the city art show. My mom requested me to paint flower lilies because she loves the flowers. I designed this with my mom’s request. I thought it would be a wonderful gift for my mom if I could win. She would have an award winning piece. I really wanted to get a higher prize for my mom. So, next year I want to try it out again!!!

Here is the piece that I got the lowest prize.

I am happy with the consequence because at least one of my pieces made it. My next goal is to get two of my pieces into the show and try to win a higher prize on one of them. I will try my best again!

Now, I have gone back to working on my homework for my painting school and practicing painting. I hope I will show you one of my homework or practicing pieces in two weeks!

Stay tuned!

Three siblings fairies are enjoy chatting, and they are not recognizing somebody is peeking them. I am the bird who is eavesdropping their  conversation. 🙂

This one has a squeal painting and I will show you another one next time.

I tried to get in the city art show with this fairly series (two of them), but unfortunately, this one couldn’t get in the show even though another one got in.

Since my hubby prefers this one to another one, he is not happy with the result. I tried to get a higher prize this year, but it was difficult. I got a lowest prize on another one this year as well.

I like this design, so, I want to paint the similar idea some time.

It’s always so much fun to try to get in the city art show. I really enjoyed painting fairly tales on porcelain. You will see my fairly tales more from now on!

Have a lovely week! See you around in two weeks!!

Practicing Butterflies!

Posted in European Style, Fantasy, Modern Style with tags , , , , on February 12, 2017 by yumi

Hi there!

How have you been? We have snow in Japan, and the weather is really cold. I started knitting for the first time in three years! I am knitting a pair of mittens to my mom.  However, my kitty, Jiji annoys me a lot when I knit. I can’t focus on knitting. Even so, I am enjoying knitting and playing with Jiji at the same time, lol.

Today I want to show you my butterfly plate.  I bought lots of painting supplies at my Italian painting teacher, Patrizia’s and to get used to them, I started practicing both with her painting supplies and techniques. I chose butterflies as my first practice subjects.

I know I need practice more to paint butterflies, but I am happy that my first butterflies look good. I have more ideas about butterfly paintings, and you will see more this year.

What I learned in Michigan Porcelain Painting School ~Part 2

Posted in American Syle, flower painting, Modern Style, The Michigan Shcool with tags , , , , on June 12, 2015 by yumi

Hello there! How are you doing?

It’s getting hotter in Japan, and my hate season is coming. We are in a rainy season now.

Well, today I want to share my modern piece with you. I learned how to design modern patterns last month by Paula White in Michigan school. The class was very interesting. She showed several samples how to design modern patterns, and we ourselves designed our original design with Paula’s help.

I prefer traditional patterns and I am lack of experiences. However, since Paula was a excellent teacher, I really enjoyed designing my piece.

I hope you all like my modern piece.

What I learned at the Michigan school since Last year ~Painting with Stephen Hayes

Posted in American Syle, flower painting, Modern Style, The GA Seminar by the Sea Porcelain Art School with tags , , on May 31, 2015 by yumi

Hi there! Long time no see. Aw, I hate that I have to start saying “Long time no see”……… I am sorry that I hadn’t updated my blog entry at all for a while.

I was feeling down after I returned to Japan from America. I felt like that I burned out. You know, everyone feels the feelings after they achieve their goals.

I had been so busy in three months. In February, I was in Florida to take San Do’s class with Gay and Linda. In March, I was in Thailand to enter the world porcelain convention with my Kutani teacher. After that, my British friend, Martyn came to our house. Then, I was in Michigan. I traveled three times in three months. I completely tired.

I know it sounds excuses, but that’s why I hadn’t showed up Facebook, Twitter, my blogs or whatever.

Now, I am full of energy and want to post blog entries constantly both on my blogs! I will show up Facebook, Twitter much more often, I promise!!!!!

Today I want to write about my American painting teacher, Stephen Hayes. He is a world famous painter and one of the best teachers. I’ve been taking his class constantly at Gay’s painting school, the Michigan painting school for two years. He is a great teacher, and I love taking his classes. That’s because I can learn new techniques and how teachers should be at the same time from him.

He is an impressionist artist and it’s really new attempt for me to learn abstract art. I am too precise. I don’t know if it’s good or not, though…….

Last year, I painted two pieces; one was with Stephen and the other was my own.

Inpressionist art

Impressionist art

I painted this one with Stephen and after school, I gave it to Gay, my American mom. She has been hanging this on a wall of her bathroom. So, it was my first time to see my hand painting in a year this year, lol. I think when we frame paintings, they seem to be really gorgeous. I love Gay framed my painting very much! It seems to be very very nice!!

This round one was painted by myself!

Impressionist art

Impressionis art

Learning the painting style was fascinating for me! I was in loved with Stephen’s techniques!

This year, I painted two pieces as well; one is painting with him and the other is my own. I also gave the one which I painted with Stephen to Gay  again. Next year I will see which colored frame she used.

Since this style is so unique for me, I want to use this techniques to my art pieces from now on!  You will see my new attempts more soon!

If you are interested in Gay’s porcelain painting school, please contact me or Gay! Especially, Japanese painters! I am also a Japanese porcelain artist. I can’t translate every details into Japanese because I also take some painting classes. However, I can help your English! 一緒に是非、ミシガンでペイントいたしましょう!

Please leave a comment to encourage me to keep blogging! Thank you for your support!! I really appreciate it!

See you next week on my blog again!

Salon Blank International Exhibition of Contemporary Art

Posted in American Syle, Animal painting, Awards, competition, Fantasy, International Convention, Japanese, Japanese Style, Kutani, Modern Style with tags , , , , , , , on April 22, 2014 by yumi

Hi there!

How’s the weather in your place? In Japan we are in the mid of spring, and I really enjoy it. I love spring because I was born in April. My parents told me when I was born, the cherry blossoms were full blooming. I guess that’s why I love cherry blossoms and spring.

This spring, an exciting thing happened to me. I tried to get in Salon Blank International Exhibition of Contemporary Art, and it’s my first try and got a prize to two of my pieces. Since it was my purpose to got a prize and get into the show to show my artwork ( I mean if I wouldn’t get a prize, I couldn’t get into the show.), I’m super happy 🙂

Here are my pieces.

I painted a floating bosastu. Bosatsu means buddha. We have several curving floating bosatsu in Kyoto, and when I saw them with my friend from America, I thought they were so pretty. I really wanted to paint them.  I painted the floating bosatsu with the Kutani techniques and the Western techniques.  This piece is a test piece for me to paint more floating bosatsu. I really want to paint all floating bosatsu with this idea soon! I can’t wait to show my new piece of floating bosatsu to you all!

Next one is my cat.

Jiji

Jiji

Jiji is my kitty’s name, and he came to our house last June. Since then, I really really love him. Painting Jiji was so much fun. This piece is my imagination, and we don’t have mice at home. He is really playful, and he is peering through mice to play with them or maybe to eat.

I think it’s one of the hardest parts for us painters to make our pieces closer what we imagine in our mind. I’ve always been struggling with this, but to be honest with you that’s why I love painting. Meanwhile, I really enjoyed painting Jiji, and you will see my kitty’s pieces more from now on!
