A Wrinkled Face

Posted in American Syle, Portrait, San Do's Painting Studio with tags , , on April 8, 2017 by yumi

Hello there!

I am happy that I can update my art blog this weekend again!

Today I show you my wrinkled face. Well, it’s not my portrait, lol, and I don’t know the person.

A couple of years ago, I learned how to paint a wrinkled face from San Do at his painting studio. Since then, I wanted to practice. However, I didn’t do that. I had excused to myself that I was busy for painting other stuff. Well, as you know we can’t improve without practicing. I am glad that I finally practiced a wrinkled face. I know I need more practice, but my first wrinkled face is pretty much awesome, lol. I am so happy with my piece!

I practiced this very interesting Japanese elderly woman’s wrinkled face with only color black. It was so much fun. I enjoyed imaging the elderly woman’s life while painting. The wrinkles describe her life history. Her wrinkles says that her life might be tough, but I can see piece on her face.

I want to paint more wrinkled faces. I want to paint my ground parents some time as well.  Maybe next time I want to practice a wrinkled face with colors.

At the very end of this article, I painted the guy at San Do’s painting studio with him a couple of years ago. I learned how to paint a wrinkled face with the guy.

I went to San Do’s painting studio with Gay. After the class, Gay, my other American friend, Zach and I went to the Ringling brothers museum together.  I learned American circus history there. We had a fun time there.

Painting portraits is always fun. I really enjoyed painting her.

Now, I am painting strawberries. I hope I can show my piece next week!

Have a lovely weekend and happy painting!

City Art Show

Posted in American Syle, Animal painting, Awards, birds, competition with tags , , , , on September 24, 2016 by yumi

Long time no see. I apologize for my laziness. I was busy trying to get in a city art show where I live. The art show is not a porcelain show and I had to compete with around 500 artworks. Everyone can enter one piece, and if they can’t win a prize, their piece can’t be displayed. If you want many people to see your piece, you have to win a prize. That’s the show rule.

I tried to enter the show with this piece and made it. When I received the news, I was very happy for it.

A couple of days ago, I went to the museum where my piece has been shown with my hubby. Before going there,  he and I were talking how many pieces would be in the show. He told me he guessed that everybody could get in the show because it’s the city art show. Well, we met some people who couldn’t get in there. I talked with several of them, and they told me that they have been trying for several years, but it’s hard for them to get in. They came there to get their pieces back. The show had prepared two rooms to put the pieces which couldn’t get in. I saw many pieces were there.

I realized that to get in the show was a little bit more difficult that I had thought. The show is more serious that I had imagined. When I heard their stories, I felt sorry for them. At the same time I appreciated my luck.

While we were looking around, I heard an elderly woman who was with her husband pointing at my piece and said, “Oh, I love this one!”. It totally made my day.

It was fun to try out to get in a real art show. I want to do this every year from now on.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog and supporting me! I will try to post something every weekend constantly, but I guess that I sometimes won’t be able to do this. Now, I am painting some mushrooms on mugs, and you will see them next weekend.

See you around next weekend!

My Mice Paintings

Posted in American Syle, Animal painting, competition, Uncategorized on July 2, 2016 by yumi

Hello there! How are you doing this weekend? I hope you are having a good time!

Today I show you my animal paintings. I painted these in Michigan. While I was there, my American friend Gay shared that they would have a show at the end of June. I entered the pieces in the show. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get a prize, but I enjoyed painting them.

They are small pieces, and the size is as same as a post card. I painted these to follow a color theory, and I think I finally understood it.

I like painting animals and I want to paint more. I hope you like my mice!

I am sorry. I edited the size and couldn’t fix it. Since I left these paintings at Gay’s, I can’t take pictures again. I hope you can see it, lol. I know it’s too small.

After I painted them, Gay framed them for me. Thank you so much, Gay!

Michigan School in 2016

Hi there!

How have you been? I am so sorry that I haven’t updated my blog for along time. I started blogging again and want to update every weekend!

Last week I got home from Michigan. I feel I am still in the States, lol. I had wonderful time with Gay, Emilie, Kay and our mutual friends there.

This year, the school had only one class, and I took a class from Paula White. I learned color theory from her. I have been learning color theory for years, but I finally think everything what I learned started connecting each other.

In the class we painted grapes in a color wheel. I learned using pure colors is very important. Now, I am test firing all colors that I have to make sure which color groups my colors belong to. I think I should do this earlier, but well, I think it’s not too late. After doing this, I want to start painting with what I l learned from Paula.

This is my work that I learned from Paula.

My work with Paula White

I liked her techniques very much because her style just looks like water color paintings. I learned how to connect each colors in the color wheel. After the class, I painted mice with using the theory at Gay’s. You will see my mice pieces some day soon. I want to use her methods more on my pieces from now on.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog! My next blog entry will be my adventures in Michigan with Gay!

Stay turned! See you next weekend!!!!

Now, two of them left from the hospital and they have helpers. They have some health issues, but I really hope they will get better.

Today, I wan to invite you a concert of frogs, lol. I painted this piece for an art show in my city, but because of my in laws healthy issue I missed it. So, I want to show this in my blog.  I enjoyed painting this piece and I want to paint more similar designs to use this idea from now on.

What I learned in Michigan Porcelain Painting School ~Part 2

Hello there! How are you doing?

It’s getting hotter in Japan, and my hate season is coming. We are in a rainy season now.

Well, today I want to share my modern piece with you. I learned how to design modern patterns last month by Paula White in Michigan school. The class was very interesting. She showed several samples how to design modern patterns, and we ourselves designed our original design with Paula’s help.

I prefer traditional patterns and I am lack of experiences. However, since Paula was a excellent teacher, I really enjoyed designing my piece.

I hope you all like my modern piece.
