Hi friends!

How have you been in this busy holiday season? This month is a cleaning month in Japan, and I have been busy for cleaning our house. I am preparing to welcome a New Year!

Today I want to show some of my miniature portraits again. I lost our beloved dog 7 months ago while I was in Canada. I was taking a class from my mentor, Patrizia from Italy there.  Our dog’s name was Lala, a very pretty black female Labrador Retriever. She died when she was 13 years and 9 months old. After I lost her, I couldn’t paint for a while.

I learned how to paint animal miniature portraits from my teacher, Birgit Porter in the States in May at the Michigan school this year. I painted this Lala’s portrait with her, and at the time she was alive. I couldn’t finish this piece in the class, and I flew to Canada with this to attend the Canada international porcelain show. Then, I lost her.  After I returned to Japan from Canada, I couldn’t see her photos and keep on painting on this piece. I couldn’t even blog for a while. I completely lost what I should do.

I painted her on a Limoges porcelain tile. I bought the tiles at San Do’s  painting studio last year.

Lala came to our house as our daughter’s companion. We have only daughter, 20 years old. When Lala came to our house, our daughter, Nana was only 7 years old. They grew up together. Since we have to move around Japan from one place to another place because of my husband’s job, Lala had became a good company to all of us. She was a very smart, calm and pretty dog. She moved to 4 different places with us.

I also finished my friends, Gay and Bonnie’s pets portraits. The cat is Gay’s and the dog is Bonnie’s.

Hi there!

I attended one of the biggest porcelain shows in Florida,  the States in August. I went there with my friend, Fresia from Bolivia.  During the show we enjoyed watching the Cirque du Soleil at Disney, going to a big shopping mall and Universal studios. We had a great time there, and after the show, we flew to Huston to Cheri Holder’s international painting studio and took two classes from my mentor, Patrizia Arvieri. I can’t write everything on this blog entry, and I will write step by step.  First of all, I want to focus on writing the IPAT show.

It was my first time to attend the show and I met a lot of Japanese porcelain artists there. I made friend with them, and it was great! I really appreciate their friendships!! Thank you, Yumiko Okumura, Etuko Hanajima, Rumi Agawa, Satomi Totten, Kazuyo Tanaka, Syuuko Kishida, Yurimi Sakashita and Sachiko Teramura. I especially had a great time with Satomi Totten! I took the same classes from patrizia Arveri at Cheri’s painting studio with her. It was so nice. All of them are so talented artists. I got a lot of influence from them. I am looking forward to seeing them again somewhere!

The show had some display tables where we can show our pieces and it also had some tables for the competition. I entered two pieces and got a silver ribbon and a bronze ribbon. It became a great memory for me.

I also did a demonstration of our dying art from, Kutani. It was my first time to show Kutani in the American show. Many people came up to my table and I received a lot of questions. I am so glad that may people in the States are so interested in Kutani.

I won a lottery and got two hand painted pieces by my portrait teacher, Cookie Barton! I was extremely lucky!!!!!!

The show was so much fun, and I am looking forward to going to the next show with Gay and Rikki!
